Today was a beach day. Expect something different?
On our last night in San Jose another AirB’nB folk, like ourselves, was staying at Oscar & Juan’s place. We got to know David that night while we drank wine and talked of the upcoming destination of Puerto Viejo that we had in common, where he & friend Julie [who was arriving the next day from Salt Lake] would be spending time as well. David was super sweet & a really interesting guy from Salt Lake [but now living in Valparaiso, Chile] so we made plans to, well, run into each other, as PV is pretty small.
We ended up seeing them last night as we were walking through town and hung out at their place for a bit with some wine and unbelievably juicy pineapple. We made plans to grab lunch with them today, so after a morning of blogging & work we walked into town and met them at a small strip of beach just off the main road.
We stayed at the beach for a little while, snacking a bit & drinking beer while watching locals and visitors alike spend their Friday morning in the water. Grabbing lunch, we sat at Kire and had a couple slices of pizza with an empanada. Not exactly the best pizza, but my spinach empanada was delish.

We wound our way down the road to Playa Cocles where David swam to the small island off the coast and the rest of us read, laid out, and eventually got into the water to play around for a while as the sun started to go down behind the trees.
We all wandered off after a while– David & Julie heading back to their place and Jason & I taking the trail back to town to grab a drink at a bar on the water called Lazy Mon. We cheersed to the day, sipped our Lazy Ritas, and listened to the live music until it was time to head in.
Ahhh, the good life.
